caid’s second week

Before I knew it, Caid was two weeks old. And we settled into a routine (as much as an infant will let you have a routine). That meant a lot of feedings, with some sleep, play and sponge baths in between.

Sponge baths weren’t his favorite, but he loved getting his hair washed.

The biggest challenge of week two was a missing daddy. Chris had the opportunity to attend a training course in Chicago for four days. Based on my experience with Cameron, where I recovered quickly, I thought I could manage okay. Silly me, this recovery was taking a lot longer and I was no where near okay. Luckily my amazing mom came over and helped out for the week. We did spend some time outside the house, but she also helped with the morning rush before school and bedtime. I don’t know if I would have made it through the week without her.

Someone teased me because Caiden is naked in every photo I post. This little boy runs HOT, so I prefer keeping him in a breathable blanket rather than dressing him every morning. But no worries, we always dressed before leaving the house. We’re not hoosiers!

Caid and Gram in their matching Missouri Baptist shirts!

And laying next to his cousin Kirsten, who is three weeks older. Look at the size difference!

It’s been a couple of big weeks!

riverboat field trip

One thing I missed while I was in the hospital was a riverboat cruise field trip with Cameron. My mom stepped in and took my place. It happened during a heat wave, so it was hot on the water and even HOTTER on the bus. She did enjoy seeing Cam interact with his buddies. In her words, he reminded her of a frat boy since he and his buddies screamed and grunted at one another. :) Boys will be boys.

Popcorn and lemonade were the only relief from the heat. Look at those pink cheeks!

Thank you, mom, for being an amazing Gram. Must be why you are Cam’s best friend.

cam turns 3!

To backtrack a bit, we managed to celebrate a third birthday before welcoming a second child to our family. I think he was very excited.

After taking photos with me for our weekly belly update, Cam wanted to use my camera all the time. So his big present from us was one of his very own. He put it to use right away.

Then we got into his big gift from Gram and Papa! Perfect for my little sports star.

Can’t have a birthday without cake!

Cam didn’t just celebrate at home, he also celebrated at school earlier in the day. His amazing teachers made a fun birthday crown for the big boy, and he wore it proudly.

He was proud of his blue icing tongue!

It’s amazing to think I have a three year old. Every day is a new adventure with him, and he teaches us new things as often as we teach him. Can’t wait to see what the new year brings!

heading home

After four nights in the hospital it was time to go home. We, especially Cameron, had a lot to show Caiden at home.

I can’t even explain how right it felt to go home with two boys, and that our family was complete. It was a neat feeling. I may be outnumbered by all these boys, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

brother love

Cameron didn’t want to hold Caiden the first day and that was okay. When he was ready, we got some great photos!

 Such a proud big brother.
