two field trips means two times the fun!

Recently I was lucky enough to pick apples with my boys on separate field trips. Caiden was first, and he enjoyed the animals way more than the apples. So much so that I did most of the apple picking, leaving no hands to take photos.
Such a goofy grin. Such a Caiden grin.
Cameron also enjoyed the animals. I enjoyed antibacterial wipes afterwards.
 The kids and their bounty.
I really enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with each boy and their classmates, watching them interact with all of their friends. The boys have enjoyed eating their special apples. Good times were had by all.

déjà vu hide-n-seek

Early stage of hide-n-seek – hiding behind a curtain and thinking you’re invisible.

Funny, because Cam did the same thing around the same age.

legos at the garden

A couple of weeks ago a portion of the Martin clan met up to see the Lego exhibit at the Botanical Gardens. Our special guests Heather and Jacob joined in.
The kids enjoyed the Lego carnival cutout the most – often fighting over
whose head should go through.
I left my purse in the car, disappointing the kids since I did not have any change for fish food (bad mom). Luckily Heather came to the rescue.
On the way out, the kids wrangled up sheep.
We all had fun, except for Jacob. He was not impressed.

the leg bone’s connected to the…

Let’s all hope that Caiden does not go into medicine.

kindergarten here we come!

Cam started kindergarten yesterday, and what a difference a year makes. Last year all the Pre-K students and parents huddled together watching the mass chaos of kids, many MUCH larger than our own, running and bouncing around the lot. This year, WE were the pros. I had to beg Cam for a photo in front of the school before he ran off with his friends. Then I spent the morning catching up with other parents, marveling at how much everyone grew over the (short) summer.
He is looking forward to another fun year at Kennard!

daddy tunnel

What’s more fun that daddy making a tunnel with his legs?

Having Lisi be a tunnel guard.

backyard pool fun

We have been having a ridiculous summer in St. Louis this year. Days in July that only reach the mid-70s is unheard of, but we have had a few. That means a lot more outdoor play, but not as much water play. I had to snap a few photos while the opportunity was there.
These boys love their water!

myseum field trip

Cam is back at Purina’s childcare center for the summer, and little brother Caiden is SO EXCITED! They interact with one another on the playground and do activities with each other. Cam gets to show Caid what big boys are allowed to do, including field trips! Both boys got to ride the bus to the Myseum!
There was a large interactive wall where your shadow affected what happened.
We spent a long time there.
Dinosaurs often get hungry for rubber chickens.
It’s fun for me to see the boys interact so well away from home. And my little-big boy really enjoyed his first field trip experience.

Grants Farm

After our first overnight party featuring Wyatt and Eva, we decided we had enough energy to visit some animals at Grants Farm. Another day to make memories!
After several visits to Grants Farm, we decided to never enter the goat pen for feedings. ALWAYS feed from the outside of the fence. Otherwise you will have a traumatized child and might be missing an appetizing (for a goat) personal item.
There’s always room for a snow cone. And for mandatory Joker snow cone faces.
We are all thankful for misters installed at any outside attraction. Especially Caiden.
Saint Louis is celebrating its 250th birthday this year, and to celebrate they have placed cakes all around town. It’s fun to see how many you can locate and see their uniqueness.
We survived the heat and enjoyed out company. The Brocks are our best family friends, and both boys ask how Wyatt and Eva are doing in Florida. We miss them dearly but are very excited for their new adventure. Now we have an awesome place to visit! Love you guys!
